Meta to Discontinue Workplace

Closure Announcement

Meta is set to close Workplace, its enterprise communication platform, marking the end of a significant chapter in its ambitions. Initially designed as a business-focused version of Facebook to enhance organizational communication, Workplace will cease operations in August 2025. Until then, it will remain fully functional, transitioning to a read-only mode until May 2026 before being completely shut down.

Transition Timelines

• Full Operation Period: Workplace will remain fully operational until August 31, 2025. Customer support will be available throughout this period.

• Discount and Read-Only Phase:  Starting September 1, 2024, Workplace will offer a 50% discount. From September 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026, it will be available only for viewing and downloading data.

• Service Termination: After May 31, 2026, the service will be completely decommissioned, and access will be terminated.

Data Management

• Download Options: To download data, enable the "Download Your Information" tool for users or use the Workplace API for exporting information.

Recommended Migration

Meta recommends transitioning to Workvivo, an enterprise communication platform acquired by Zoom in 2023. Workvivo is the only preferred migration partner, and Meta will collaborate with Zoom to facilitate this transition.
